Here's a newly open Korean restaurant and had the social media crazy over it.
So here I am to try this out. If you ask me, I personally feels that the food was just average. Like nothing special about it, duh. What makes it special is the structure of the pot I guess. The main dish- the squid- was not bad but it doesn't worth the price of rm70 per pot, plus it states for 3 pax but 2 was just nice. Somehow overpriced. The kimchi fried rice is disappointing! The rice was bland and cold... and hard. I just had a spoon and that's all. Didn't manage to get the picture of their fried chicken, but still, their fried chicken was average as well at the price of RM20 for 4 pieces.

Enjoy your food open air! This korean restaurant has been open for years and still full of people every night!
It's not my first time, what makes my return is their varieties of the side dishes and their food was actually quite nice. This time we ordered beef bulgogi and Pork Kimbab. I personally feel that if the there's more soup in the bulgogi will be nicer, as their bulgogi goes for a gravy version. And I love their kimbab! You'll never enough for the super tender grill beef! Whenever I make a trip to Johor Bahru, other than their local specialities that I'd mentioned in my previous blog and Vlog, I will visit some Korean BBQ restaurant (Y)
Why? Well, I love their variety of side dishes. You can say I take this criteria as one of a reason I chose certain Korean BBQ restaurant. The last trip I made is to NamMoon Korean BBQ Restaurant, so I chose it's neighbour restaurant Kimchi & BBQ Restaurant. Their are located just few shop lots away. More than 10 side dishes (Y) ! I had to say in KL we hardly find a Korean BBQ Restaurant that serve more than 10 side dishes.
One reason I visit Nam Moon Korean BBQ is because they really serve quite a number of side dishes, unlimited refill! Well, if you don't wanna smell bad you can make a choice to sit at seats without grill plate, so they will grill the meat for you readily and serve in front of you YAY! First and Last visit. Somehow disappointing.
Well, I didn't expect a high expectation towards this restaurant at the very first place as it was it signboard isn't attractive and not obviously seen. We visited this restaurant as my cousin studying a school nearby and probably the only Korean Restaurant at the area. We ordered a BBQ Combo Set for RM157 which consist a Kimchi Hotpot, Bibimbap, Tobboki, 2 BBQ Meat and a stir fry squid. It isn't overpriced, yet can be considered cheap compared to other Korean Restaurant. However, the food isn't really delicious. The meat and soup is bland, rice cake is average. Somehow they might be using a lower quality noodle, which isn't really nice. In conclusion, I don't recommend here. Have you tried it? Galmaegisal means 'Pork Skirt Meat' - it is said that it is low calories and high in protein. Perfect for us who are always in diet isn't? It's their signature meat as well so of course we ordered their Shinmapo Signature set, 2-4 pax for RM 118. It served with the military stew, consisting of mushrooms, ham and sausages.
Sinful Meal- Yet Unresistable Korean BBQ Buffet Finally done with my exam and so we decided to reward ourselves with nice food! Well, we found Hwa Ga Korean BBQ restaurant in Sunway Mentari so we decided to settle down here. There are a la carte and buffet options, and after we do some calculations ( to see which one worth ><) and we chosen their buffet! Hahaha To be honest it wasn't the best Korean BBQ nor the cheapest Korean BBQ buffet. It cost us around RM45 per pax for lunch including taxes. The dining environment was good, and the lady boss is friendly. Just a bit tough to communicate with their staff cause all are foreigners and they don't understand English well. Not much choices of food and side dishes either, which I mentioned in my previous post that side dishes are the most important criteria for a good Korean Restaurant!! Food are average, I like their Japchae among all, it is juicy and sweet in taste. I wouldn't mind having another bowl but I couldn't fit in anymore T.T Soups are somehow a bit bland, and others are average. Hey Hey!
Back to Korean Food again today! So when it comes to Dak Galbi, which place comes into your mind? Well, I usually have two place in mind- Uncle Jang & Mr Dak Galbi. Both have theirs pros and cons, so today I'll share my experience in Uncle Jang's Dak Galbi. Well, I first tried them in Johor Bahru. Maybe the first is always the best. Here in Uncle Jang they provide more cabbages , which I liked it, But not all of you of course. But I think they are still improvement in their kimchi. No any other side dishes other than kimchi sadly. Now they appeared to have more varieties instead of serving Dak Galbi only. They had the sweet chicken wings which cost RM9,00 for six pieces, Not pricey yet it is really small. Haha maybe a chick. Didn't manage to take a picture cause the kids are fighting over it >< Note that on Tuesday they only open 6pm-11pm. Review: Food: 7/10 Price: 6/10 Ambience : 7/10 Service : 6/10 (As usual all the waiter are foreigners, so you may find it tough communicating) Parking : 6/10 Address : No 1-1, Bandar Puteri, Jalan Puteri 1/7, 47100 Puchong, Selangor, Malaysia A Bowl That Cures The Hot Day!
Guess where I went for dessert today?? BingSu Cafe @ Uptown Damansara! BingSu is one of my favourite dessert- except for its price which is always pricey. A bowl of bingsu definitely cost the price of my 2 meals ( I mean common meals haha). So once in a long long time I may spend some for BingSu I guess? Bingsu is popular dessert in Korean comprising of ice shavings and various ingredients- like our Malaysia Cendol. Of course Cendol are far more cheaper hahaha. So it's my first time visiting BingSu Cafe. Was planning to visit Villa Ju bakery at Uptown as well, but......... the price shock me out! All their Bingsu basically starts from RM20 onwards so yeah. Bye. I went here instead. Actually, there isn't really a huge differences in price but if you're struggling for money like I do so yeah RM5 cheaper also saves a lot hahaha. I personally feel that I still prefer O:WL Espresso so far. The shaved ice served here is quite plain, maybe the toppings is a little to less to cover the whole ice, so some parts may be a little plain. I personally feel that I still prefer O:WL Espresso so far. Reviews: Price : 6/10 Food : 6/10 Service : 5/10 Cause basically they did no services except when you're ordering, and you need to place your own tray back on your own as well. Ambience : 7/10 Quiet and nice, and cold! Parking : 4/10 As usual, Uptown Damansara is always packed with cars. Address: Jalan SS 21/35, Damansara Utama, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia Korean Food- My favourite! So this time I'll share my experience in Gangnam 88 Korean Restaurant. More to come in the future so always stay tuned! I went to Sunway Giza branch. I would pick Gangnam 88 when I don't feel like having barbecue. It will be quite a good choice if you would like to have some set meals or Korean Hot Pot. I tried quite a number of Casual Dining Korean restaurant , those that don't serve Korean BBQ, and I like Gangnam 88 cause they provide quite a lot (around 8 kinds) of side dishes. I loves Korean side dishes and it is one of the important criteria for a Korean Restaurant to me. This means when I choose some Korean Restaurant, I would pick the one which serves most side dishes hehe. However the price here is quite pricey, the downside here. Dine in with a gang of friends as the portion is quite large as well. Definitely not alone unless you're a big eater or you're rich enough >< Here are the food I'd tried: Pork Bulgogi- Could be better, I love the soup version but they served dry one here. Korean Rice Cake- Don't really like it, maybe I've tried a better one Fried Squid Hot Pot- Loves the soup, but maybe I'll order a non-fried one in the future? Cause it doesn't really match tho. Korean Soup- Ordinary Chicken BBQ- Their meat bbq here is good! Something I had to comment is their menu is a little bit too messy?
